Set high up in the
Tucked away in its secluded gardens, just
behind
We are a small family run Bed and Breakfast,
providing a high standard of hospitality for our guests and we will
do everything we possibly can to make your stay with us as perfect
as it can be.
In the
Straight from our front door there are
marvellous walks in endless directions for those of you who don't
want to use your cars. Stanton Moor, site of a large Bronze Age
burial ground is just a few minutes walk away. The views from the
Trig Point are a breathtaking 360 degrees. (see Local Area)
We are less than 15 minutes drive from
Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The Red Lion,
Real Ale pub is about 200 yards from us and The Druid Inn is roughly
the same again. Both serve excellent meals.
Poppy Cottage is strictly a non-smoking
establishment, throughout.
Prices for 2011 per night for a double room
including breakfast are from £60 for single occupancy and from £80
for double occupancy.
Being over 200 years old, Poppy Cottage has many of the characteristics that typify an old building. Over the years, various occupants have built a bit on here and another on there, resulting in floors that are not level and often steps between rooms.
The bus from Bakewell to
Matlock is every half hour and stops directly opposite us. Cars can
usually park right outside, on
Inside, there is a step from the front hall up to the lounge, but then the floor is level. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. There are ten fairly steep stairs, with a sturdy handrail on the right hand side and two steps down into the bathroom.
